World renowned monument in Lucerne (Switzerland) - Lion of Lucerne. It was created in the mountain in memory of the Swiss, which passed away heroically in 1792 in the Battle of the Tuileries. The Lion Monument has been designed by Danish sculptor Thorvaldsen and hewn in 1820-21 by Lukas Ahorn. Carved from a single stone, it represents strength, courage, and in addition feelings of loss for the deceased soldiers.
